Overtime Calculator
Estimate total pay when overtime is paid at a multiplier such as 1.5x or 2x.
How overtime pay works
Regular pay is hourly rate multiplied by regular hours. Overtime pay is hourly rate multiplied by the overtime multiplier and overtime hours.
Overtime laws and employer policies vary. This calculator is only an estimate.
Worked example
If your hourly rate is GBP 16.00, regular hours are 40, overtime hours are 5, and the multiplier is 1.5, the regular pay estimate is GBP 640.00. The overtime estimate is GBP 120.00, making total gross pay GBP 760.00.
Use the multiplier your own contract, rota, or employer policy gives you. A 1.25x, 1.5x, and 2x overtime rule can produce very different totals from the same hours.
Choosing an overtime multiplier
Common examples include 1.25x, 1.5x, and 2x, but the right figure depends on your agreement or local rules. Enter the multiplier that matches your own situation.
