Salary to Hourly Calculator

Break down an annual salary into an estimated hourly rate, weekly pay, and monthly average.

How salary to hourly works

Divide annual salary by the total estimated working hours in a year. Total hours are weekly hours multiplied by working weeks.

Use this as an estimate only. Actual hourly value can change with paid leave, unpaid leave, bonuses, benefits, and overtime.

Worked example

A GBP 30,000 salary spread across 37.5 hours a week for 52 weeks is based on 1,950 working hours. Dividing GBP 30,000 by 1,950 gives an estimated hourly value of GBP 15.38 before deductions.

If the same salary regularly requires 45 hours a week, the estimate changes because the annual hours rise to 2,340. That would put the hourly value closer to GBP 12.82.

Why convert salary to hourly?

Breaking salary down into an hourly estimate can make job offers easier to compare, especially when weekly hours, shift patterns, or expectations are different.
